Need to keep your little busy for a while? Kids usually want to touch everything so why not add a mess free activity to aid their curiosity. Try this simple sensory art project! It literally can be used for all age groups. My kids love spreading out the lumps & bumps (texture), discovering different patterns and colors. **hint hint, this is where the sensory element comes into play**
What makes it even better is the fact that you can find all of these supplies hanging around the house. It’s a simple art project we use over & over again, and one we’ll continue to use. Xiomara loved the activity from the being. Jeremiah was unbothered at first but ended up loving it! It’s a great in home art project for little kids and great one for parents too … And did I mention it’s an easy, cheap & MESS FREE activity!?
Supplies:
- Large Ziploc Bags
- White Card stock/Printing paper
- Kids Paint (Preferably washable, nontoxic)
- painters tape
Directions:
- Cut the card stock to the size of the Ziploc bag so it fits comfortably inside
- Take the paint bottle and gently squirt random amounts of paint in various directions & colors across the card stock. **This project works best when the paint is spread across the paper**
- Pop the card stock it into a Ziploc bag, making sure it’s completely sealed
- Tape the the Ziploc bag to a surface (i.e. table, glass door, or tiled floor)
- Hand the locked Ziploc bag over to your arty kid and encourage them to glide their hands across the Ziploc bag to see what happens.
If he/she is having a hard time, place both of their hands onto the surface of the Ziploc bag and begin spreading the paint. Gently mix the colors and see what happens. I’m pretty sure your little one will take it from there!
If you try this activity, share it with me! Take a photo of your little ones enjoying this activity and post on social media – tag @MarriedToMotherhood. I’d love to see what new colors and shades your little ones made.
Enjoy!
