Dead Roses? … No Problem!
Did you receive an overly expensive dozen of roses on Valentine’s Day? Did you trash them? You could’ve easily shown yourself with some homemade self-care love. I took my dead rose pedals and turned them into a DIY sugar scrub.
Sugar Scrub Benefits
Let talk about the importance of using a sugar scrub … The main purpose behind utilizing a sugar scrub is to exfoliate and remove dead skin cells. Undergoing this process allows new skin to be revealed. Your body will feel AMAZING after this process but be mindful that exfoliating your skin 2-3 times a week is more than enough.
Why did I choose a rose scrub?
Rose essential oil can be used for de-stressing, alleviating depression, rejuvenating skin and relieving symptoms of PMS. It can help boost skin elasticity and radiance while adding a luxurious scent to your bath routine. Rose is also an anti-inflammatory and antibacterial. It’s very soothing, balancing and great for all types of skin and conditions. Studies also show that rose oil decreases stress and anxiety and promotes well-being.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 3 rose petals (add more for a stronger smell & more color)
- 2/3 cup coconut oil (like this)
- 7-8 drops rose essential oil (I love this brand)
- 4-5 drops Vitamin E Oil (like this)
- Airtight container
Homemade Sugar Scrub Directions
- Use a medium sized glass or metal mixing bowl (just so the oils don’t seep into anything plastic).
- Add the sugar and the coconut oil and stir until it’s all mixed together.
- Add the rose essential oil and the vitamin E oil and mix it all together again.
- Transfer to an airtight container and enjoy using within 3 months.
Note: If you would like your scrub to be pink you can add a small amount of pink food gel and stir it into the scrub mixture. If you don’t add color your scrub will be slightly pink (with specs of roses as pictured) depending on how many rose petals were added.
How to Use Your Homemade Sugar Scrub
- Wet your skin in the shower and generously apply the rose sugar body scrub.
- Massage your skin in a circular motion so that the sugar granules can go to work gently exfoliating your skin while the coconut oil moisturizes.
- Enjoy the sweet smell of fresh roses!
- Rinse with warm water.
DISCLAIMER: IF YOU ARE PREGNANT OR UNDER A DOCTOR’S CARE … Please consult with your doctor prior to utilizing this scrub. As Rose oil can bring about a possible skin sensitivity. Lavender oil can me a compensation for Rose oil OR you can leave out essential oils altogether.
This homemade body scrub recipe is easy to spread on and will leave your skin cleansed, exfoliated, soft and moisturized. I love using this rose body scrub in the shower and feel refreshed and relaxed afterwards. Like I stated above, I’m able to recycle some of my roses. As I am a fresh flower kind of woman.
