Is your toddler pulling off his/her diapers? Usually people say that that’s a sign that they’re ready to be potty trained. ? … That’s not necessarily true.
My son, Jeremiah, started pulling off his diapers a couple months ago. Keep in mind Jeremiah will not turn two until March! So for him to pull off diapers extremely early was very shocking to me! He was in no shape or form ready to be potty trained. I’m assuming that his diapers were irritating him or he was bored. We would walk into his room and there would be pieces of the diaper all over the floor. He would either rip them off or bite them off! We even walked in one day and he had had a poop party!! Disgusting right!? So how did we fix this????
Well … It was either potty train him, put training pants over his diapers or duck tape his diapers! We obviously knew option number one was out of the window! We tried the training pants but he still managed to get his diaper off. So we decided to go with the duck tape option! I went to the nearest Target and bought white duct tape. I figure if I bought white duct tape it would blend in with the diaper and he wouldn’t even notice that it’s there. Well Mr. smarty-pants knew that there was duct tape on his diaper. He was very angry when he couldn’t rip it off but it worked! I can say I did not like the fact that the sticky residue of the tape would sometimes get on his skin if the tape isn’t folded correctly. Then the light bulb went off in my head “why don’t you just send him to bed in onesies!?” Ah-ha! That was the solution to our diaper problem! A much easier solution at that. From that point on, I stopped wasting money and my time on tapping diapers. We now put onesies underneath Jeremiah’s pajamas before bedtime. Sometimes he can still manage to get a diaper off but it’s nothing compared to how it use to be.
