Schools out! Now let the fun breakfast ideas roll in! My littles are into helping in the kitchen nowadays. I’m just praying that they keep this same energy when they’re in their teenage years! Throughout out the school year, I try to keep breakfast ideas short & sweet. Now that they’re home, not only do I want to make heftier breakfasts for them, but I also want to get them involved. Studies show that a child is more likely to indulge in meals if they help create them! What better way to do so than creating a cute breakfast board.
My kids LOVE yogurt … which is surprising because I do not! Haha, I love incorporating yogurt and fruit into their daily diet. Yogurt has so many amazing properties in it and I’m thrilled that they ask for it everyday. I decided to make a breakfast fondue board utilizing fruit and yogurt! I had all the ingredients in my refrigerator which was even better!
You Will Need:
- ½ cup vanilla yogurt
- ¼ cup granola
- ¼ cup cereal (of your choice)
- 1 banana (peeled and halved)
- Strawberries
- ¼ mango, cut into thick wedges
- Small bunches of grapes
- Honey
- Popsicle sticks
- Board (or substitute for large plate or tray)
- Bowls
Directions:
- Spoon the yogurt into a small bowl and drizzle with honey.
- Pour the granola and cereal into separate bowls. Place on a tray, large plate, or board. **Honey is not recommended for children under the age of 1**
- Push popsicle sticks into the cut ends of the bananas and strawberries.
- Fill the tray with extra bananas, strawberries, mango slices, and grapes.
- To serve, dip the fruit into the yogurt and coat in the granola and cereal.
Viola! It’s that simple! This same idea can be created using French toast sticks, donut holes, bagels, waffle sticks, etc. You can even throw in coconut shreds or chopped nuts (if there are no nut allergies). Whatever you decide. I would recommend using all kid friendly tools. I like to use these melamine bowls because they are a dupe of my glass bowls. I let the kids cut with these knives and they love it! Being that my son is the only boy, I found this dinosaur cutting board on amazon for him and a unicorn one for my princesses! I LOOOOOVE this charcuterie board because it’s so versatile! … I’m sure your littles will get a kick out of this breakfast option. Most importantly, let them help you! If you dry this yummy recipe … drop a comment below, snap a quick picture and tag @marriedtomotherhood. I would love to see the memories being created with you and your littles. As always, keep smiling! Until next time …
