Every year we seem to struggle with gift ideas. What do people want? What do people need? What do you buy someone that has everything they need or what? Well for most mom’s that answer is relaxation! Most stay-at-home moms never have down time. I would like to think that using the restroom would be considered “me time” BUT that clearly doesn’t exist either. If you’re anything like me your down time is pretty much crashing at night while nursing your newborn.
I can say I find my “me time” prepping for bed (when I’m not dozing while nursing the baby at night). I get to listen to music, cleanse my face properly and actually brush my teeth before bed! If I’m really feeling fancy I’ll whip out my handy dandy Waterpik to floss. I’m sure I’m being judged right now but it’s the little things that moms give up at night to get more rest. Hmmm … to brush my teeth & floss OR get in bed 15min earlier today!? Decisions! Decisions! I ain’t (yes, ain’t) gonna lie I choose jumping in bed earlier most of the time.
Showering is probably the only “personal” time a mom has (if you’re lucky). So if you’re wondering what would be a good gift for a mom, I would highly recommend a beauty & bath basket. You could include: bath bombs, bubble bath, face masks, sugar scrub, a body butter, a small bottle of wine (for those of you that drink) and a nice scented candle. All of those items would be a great start to helping both a working mom and/or stay-at-home mom relax at the end of a busy day.
My good friend Melissa hosts an annual “Oprah Party”. It’s seriously the party of the year! If you’re unfamiliar with an “Everything Oprah Loves Party” I will briefly describe it for you: You will think of something you are absolutely obsessed with. It could be something you use every day/week/year/etc. but you cannot live without it and you think to yourself … “Hmmm … Everyone should have one of these.” You purchase that gift for everyone attending the party. You have a price range between $10-$20 per gift. Some people brought their favorite gadget, cookie, electronic, hat, makeup, fingernail polish, etc etc etc! Other great gifts included monogramed wine glasses, favorite lip stick, super comfy T-shirts, bath accessories and candles. The sky is the limit! Of course Mel is beyond amazing. Last year she bought everyone a clear purse they can carry to sporting events. Everyone one is given the opportunity to share with the group what they brought & why, which makes it really fun. Dinner is served and there’s an open bar! We are always instructed to come hungry and thirsty. Did I mention how awesome Mel is!? Not only do you leave full and toasted but you also leave with a large bag/box full of goodies!
*Disclaimer: I do not drink*
My gift to the girls this year were personalized marbled wet/dry bags, handmade by yours truly. **raises hand** All of the bags were monogrammed and bedazzled with jet black Swarovski Crystals. Inside of each bag were homemade lavender & chamomile bath bombs, lavender/vanilla sugar scrub, a detox bath salt and one of my favorite Yankee Candle tea lights.
If you like to personally make gifts for people feel free to try out either one of my recipes. You can find them under my recipes tab. Until next time …

I have no clue what a wet/dry bag is but it sounds beautiful! I’m jealous of all these girls that received one lol. Definitely stealing this event idea!
